The Anglican Church of Melanesia will seriously considering how it can revive the current state of the Anglican owned ‘Taroaniara Mission Station’ located in the Diocese of Central Solomons,  Central Islands Province.

The Most Rev. David Vunagi made the statement over the Easter weekend when he joined the community at the Taroaniara station, Bishop Koete Vocational Training Centre and Melanesian Brother Hood Koloti house hold for the Easter Vigil and the Easter Sunday marking the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Archbishop Vunagi was accompanied by the General Secretary of the Church Dr. Abraham Hauriasi during this visit.

“Taroaniara was the cross road of the church in the missionary days where it developed human resources and services for the church and for the nation”, Archbishop David said.

After a major review on the station in early 70’s,Taroaniara station today focuses on providing repair and maintenance for ships and medical services for the station and the surrounding communities by  St. Claire’s Clinic. The station is also home to officers and crew of the Church’s ship, the Southern Cross and the Church owned CE Fox memorial primary School.

In response to number of the concerns raised by staff of the station, ACoM General Secretary, Dr. Hauriasi said, the church is already in a process of having conversation with the land owners of Taroaniara with the aim of clearing misunderstandings between the church and the land owning group.

Archbishop David and the General Secretary thanked the staff at Taroaniara station for their continuous work despite the challenges and difficulties encountered in their working environments.
