CCC BLESSES MEMORIAL MONUMENT FOR LATE SISTER LILIAN

CHRISTIAN Care Centre (CCC) owned by the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM) blessed a memorial monument of the late Sr. Lilian Maeva at CCC, Tenaru area yesterday afternoon.
Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Melanesia who is also the Patron of CCC blessed the monument.
Late Sr. Lilian from Tikopia was the one who initiated and dedicated her time and effort to establish proper space for the less fortunate and the victims of Domestic Violence and abuse in Honiara and Guadalcanal in early 2000.
In 2001, she took a bold step to begin Christian Care Center (CCC) with support from other strong and committed women and the ACOM to begin the center.
The blessing of the Memorial Monument and Cross will signify a memory and legacy to the wider community and family of the late Sr. Lilian for her vision and legacy for beginning the mission to care for the oppressed and women and children in need.
Today, CCC is the only safe home for children and women who are victims of Domestic Violence in the Solomon Islands.
The late Sr. Lilian was the first CSC who took her life vow in the Province of Solomon Islands.
She died on 29th June 2003 and was buried in her home village in Tikopia.
Members of the Community of the Sisters of the Church (CSC) and sisters of Melanesia together with the Associates, Supporters, family members of late Sister Lilian and surrounding community members came to witness the short ceremony.
Representatives from the ACOM Provincial Headquarters, Diocese of Guadalcanal, Royal Solomon Islands Police Force and NGO and other stakeholders also came to witness the ceremony.
