Lord Howe Community In Honiara Opens New Permanent Chapel

THE Lord Howe Community in Honiara has a new permanent Chapel.

The Chapel was named Transfiguration Chapel and was officially blessed and dedicated by the VICAR General of the Diocese of Central Melanesia DOCM Bishop Jonnie Kuper on the 10th of August 2014.

The chapel can accommodate more than eighty (80) people.

Dean of the St. Barnabas Cathedral The Very Reverend Davidson Nwaeramo also took part in the blessing of the Chapel and other Parishioners of St. Barnabas Cathedral also witness the ceremony.

According to the Church Building Committee Treasurer Mr. Joses Vaoni, The chapel was completed through the work of the community and assistance from the Honorable Member of Malaita Outer Islands Hon. Martin Kiloe and City Council member Mr. Erick Tema.

“This is the first permanent church built in the area” Mr. Vaoni said.

Transfiguration chapel is another satellite Church of St. Barnabas Cathedral parish and will serve around three hundred (300) Anglican members at the Lord Howe Settlement.

The day’s program ended with entertainments.
