ACOM sets to implement Strategic plan

World Vision is facilitating a strategic workshop on behalf of the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM) with the aim to help develop a framework and a three year implementation plan that will provide direction and enable the ACOM to effectively implement its programs and activities envisioned under the ACOM strategic plan 2014-2016 that was approved by the Executive Council in November 2013.

THE Diocese of Guadalcanal of the Anglican Church of Melanesia moved a step closer to securing  around twenty (20) hectares of land to build its Diocesan Headquarters. This followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between representatives of the Church and chiefs representing the Ghaobata tribe.  The land is located within the Tenavatu area in the east of Honiara.

MBH opens new coconut crushing mill

THE Melanesian Brotherhood (MBH) of the Anglican Church of Melanesia now has a coconut crushing mill established at Tanaeba area just close to the MBH Headquarters at  Tabalia.

The Head Brother of the Melanesian Brotherhood Br. Matthias Tovotasi and the Secretary to the Melanesian Brotherhood Mr. Alphonse Garimae visited Dobuduru Regional Head Quarters for Papua New Guinea Region on the 11th October 2014.

DOM Opens new church building

A New Church building of a modern design was consecrated by the Diocesan Bishop of Malaita , The Rt Rev. Sam Sahu at Faurau village in Gwalalamoa parish, Northern Region on the 15th of January, 2015.

ACOM 14th General synod outcome

The General Synod, the highest governing body of the Church, met in Honiara from 8 to the 14 of November 2014. It was the first time that the meeting, which is normally held after every three years, was held within a week instead of the normal two weeks.  The General Synod gathers to deliberate on matters concerning the whole Church, as a province, as opposed to issues pertaining to each particular diocese which are normally dealt with by the respective diocesan synods.

DOM opens Community Fund

THE Diocese of Malaita 19th Diocesan Synod at Buma village, central region in July 2014 had approved an establishment of a savings and credit scheme known as the ‘Diocese of Malaita Community Fund’ or DOM Community Fund’ as financial backbone of the Diocese. This fund is now in operation.
