Vura Parish Opens New Parish Hall

VURA PARISH in the Diocese of Central Melanesia (DOCM) in Honiara officially dedicated their permanently built Parish hall at the ground floor of the existing Parish hall on Sunday 28th August 2016.

Archbishop George Takeli, who is also the Bishop of DOCM blessed and dedicated the hall during the feast of Transfiguration service held on Sunday.

The Rector of Vura Parish Reverend Fr. Eddie Rubaha in his remarks said, “this is another great achievement for the parish as the hall was built with only donations from parishioners and support from the parish council”.

“As a Rector here, I would like to acknowledge the Chairman of the Parish, Mr Robert Luke Iroga who has worked tirelessly to organise the builders (Parishioners) and to ensure everything went according to plan”, Fr. Rubaha said in an interview after the service.

The new hall carries a big conference room and possibly three office spaces that would be out for rent shortly, the Rector said.

He also said that the Parish Council also has plans to turn the old Parish hall into office spaces for rent in the near future.
